It’s Gambling Awareness Week in New Brunswick

New Brunswickers are encouraged to learn more about the impact of problem gambling during Gambling Awareness Week - March 6-12.
The purpose of the week is to raise awareness about the warning signs of problem gambling and about the help that is available to New Brunswickers.
“About 23,000 New Brunswick adults are at risk of becoming problem gamblers,” said Health Minister Madeleine Dube. “The harmful effects of problem gambling are no less devastating to individuals, their families and our communities than drugs or alcohol.”
Problem gamblers are often preoccupied with gambling, feel the need to gamble more frequently, bet large amounts of money and deceive others about the amount of money and time spent on gambling.
